12/12, full moon, last one of 2008, in schizoid Gemini. I’ve always felt that the Gemini Full Moon is one of the least predictable of all moons. It’s mercurial and unstable, silvery, slivery and cool, opposing the jovial Sun in Sag. Gemini is duality, the janus of the cosmos and of all the signs, perhaps the most amoral. When the moon sits in the sign of the twins, especially opposite the Sag Sun, it can result in sheer lunacy.

I recently ran across this little tidbit about the effects of the full moon on the populace at large, a study done by The University of Miami. The researchers there analyzed crime data from The Dade County PD for a period spanning fifteen years. They found that cases of violent crime rose during a full moon along with risky behavior and dangerous driving patterns. While this is a fairly mundane interpretation of the effects of the full moon on the populace, it does point to the power of the moon to influence behavior. Throw in a little kookie boost from kinky Gemini and anything goes.

With Uranus now moving forward again, you can feel like you’re swimming with the tide instead of against it. How great is that? Pluto has moved into your house of the future and friends. Whenever I think of Aquarius and Sag, I think of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Anniston. Weird, isn’t it? But Pitt (Sag) and Anniston (Aquarius) to me, represented the sympatico that the two signs share(d). December is always a challenging month for you, especially as it relates to family. Virgos and especially people with Virgo rising tend to have families at a distance and this creates an inherent challenge when the holidays are upon us. Invariably some sacrifice has to be made. Either you travel and deal with the fact that each year you know your family less and less or you stay put and miss them dearly, even though they evolve and change in the distance of time and space. If you’re a lion on the prowl for love, well, December provides and VERY fertile, hunting ground. Everyone is up in arms about this Pluto in Capricorn thing, but not you. You’re like a bull in clover. Jupiter has been hanging out in your house of philosophy, law and religion all year, lighting up ways for you to find the inherent and immutable laws concerning consciousness and prosperity. The final astrological report for 2008 is upon us and the planetary titans have shifted in the space of the last time I ruminated on such lofty celestial matters. In case you don’t know, Pluto has taken up a long term residence in Capricorn for the next 16 years. It did so on Thanksgiving. I’m always on the lookout for meta-events that correspond with such dramatic shifts in planetary alignments and there were two that really jumped out. The first is the most obvious and that’s the Mumbai terror activity and the second is one that grabbed headlines for all the wrong reasons; The Wal-Mart, Black Friday stampede on Long Island, where a Wal-Mart employee was trampled to death. The shadowy energy behind Pluto in Capricorn manifests in the rise of the corporatocracy, the internecine entangling of governance and business to form one, plutocratic agency based on governing through cost analysis, efficiency and scale–but what happened at that Wal-Mart was anything but efficient.

You and Virgo have a similar theme this month and while it’s Virgo’s challenge to capture wisdom from reverie or a dream, it’s your challenge to captivate people to share your reveries and dreams. It’s time for you to don the persona of storyteller, poet, shaman and griot. Gather your tribe around you and open up to the vast powers of the trans-personal cosmos and share your wisdom through allegory, symbol and metaphor, chant, sing and pray to the forces of nature that are your willing co-conspirators in your quest to reveal the mysteries in potent imagery and pageantry. If you don’t have any original material, I would highly suggest some form of interpretation of Dante’s “Inferno” or “The Decammeron” by Boccaccio. Both would suffice just fine. However, if pressed for time, Donne’s “Love Sonnets” would also be quite favorable to your interpretation. The message is “wax poetically with the moon and the moon will poetically wax with you.”

Getting really grounded in your home life is essential for you starting on Thursday and moving into the weekend. Starting and finishing projects of all kinds around the home are highly favorable for you. In fact, beyond favorable, you need it. You can’t put it off any longer. You and Taurus have an interesting relationship, like bothers and sisters, sloppy and neat. While you are no Felix Unger, you enjoy order, balance and symmetry.
