Fun Yoga Downloads

Here’s a great hodgepodge of the latest cool happenings for the mind, body, and spirit. Downloads for the music lover, new gadgets for the tech-minded, meditation samples directly from the Chopra Center for the Ohm crowd, and yoga video links for facial rejuvenation are just some of the goodies this blogger has compiled for a kind of “Spring into Spring” theme. Get the latest on the “Mindful Clock Program” that Thich Nhat Hahn used as a gentle reminder to pause throughout the day. Catch a YouTube video clip of Alice Coltrane’s (John’s wife) spiritual quest to Bombay. Or, read the latest Time article on Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. What a great mixed bag this is and it’s all at itsallaboutyoga.com.

Khepran Yoga

Sometimes referred to as the yoga of renewal, rebirth, and resurrection, Khepran yoga is not widely known in the US, especially when compared to the more widely practiced forms, such as Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Bikram, Kundalini, or Iyengar. Khepran yoga hails from Egypt and bases its philosophy on the life cycle of the scarab beetle, which is said to go through transformations, including those of change, rebirth, renewal, and resurrection. This form of yoga invites the practitioner to see his or her life in much the same way. The work incorporates breath practices that work to relieve blockages and increase the flow of chi, chakra work, and meditation. Get the story at khepranyoga.com.

Yoga at 30,000 Feet

I’ve been flying quite a bit lately and since I sit in the peanuts-only section, space is scarce. And I’ve noticed that I’ve become stretch-challenged while stuck in my seat. I know to do the usual neck rolls, but my creativity seems to stop there. So, I came upon this new video made for flyers whose captain’s have turned on the seatbelt sign, but need to move. This great six and a half minute clip incorporates moves for the head, arms, legs, feet, shoulders, and waist. And even in coach, you are not likely to knock into the person next to you. She also offers breathing exercises that help keep oxygen flowing through the blood. She also shows you what you can do when the seatbelt sign gets turned off. Have a nice flight.
