Humorous Observations From The Spiritual Edge

Since my life is often the object of jokes by others, Chris Van Buren, the editor here at KosmicLife, thought it would be good for me to start writing about humor and spirituality of Kosmic. Humor is a really difficult thing to define, especially as it relates to spirituality. Humor can often exist at the expense of others. Slapstick comedy is often referenced as a type of humor where we can laugh at another’s foibles because they are not our own and yet, we can all-too-well relate to them as our own. Even though slapstick can be a tad violent and perhaps a little sadistic, it’s not as mean-spirited as some other forms of comedy that can be cruel. Eddie Murphy’s second, live comedy film, “Raw” contains some pretty heavy commentary around gay culture. I doubt if he could get away with that today. So as the new comedy guy here at KosmicLife, I have a challenge to find things that are funny, spiritual and uplifting. In the spirit of that comedic style, I give you this clip from the late, great, Bill Hicks, who deftly comments on the “maya” of life and makes you laugh and cheer while doing it: Bill Hicks on YouTube.com.
