Somewhere in the craggy depths of your soul is a child that desperately wants to come out and play. Yes, you, the one that was figuring out the household budget by the time you were seven and looking into what careers would be popular when you graduated from college when you were nine. The energies of August, especially the early parts are calling forth your inner child like the Pied Piper, dancing to the music of sweet surrender. Lighten up and give yourself permission to play as much as you’d like. When I say play, it’s intended to include the quality of playfulness, which means you don’t have to win, or even engage in activities where there is a winner or a loser. Crack jokes and smiles, better yet, find the most self-important person you know and cream them in the face with a pie. Be playful, mischievous and light. Towards the middle part of the month, you’ll be looking for ways to manifest practical wisdom, but until then, kick of your heels and even for a few days, be that kid you never were.
