Medicine Drum Beats Again At Harmony Fest

May 16th, 2008

I was just in Los Angeles spending time with Greg Ellis and Lisbeth Scott of biomusique, discussing the inner life of their new release on Kosmic, The Ten Thousand Steps when they revealed to me that they will also be re-forming the groundbreaking trance outfit, Medicine Drum, along with founding member, Chris Decker. The new Medicine Drum will make its debut closing out The Harmony Festival, in Santa Rosa on the weekend of the 6th, 7th and 8th of June.

It’s the 30th anniversary of Harmony, a festival that is a magical blend of great live music, unique arts and crafts, delicious foods from vendors serving cuisine ranging from vegan Thai to down home BBQ and all of it with a conscious Body/Mind/Spirit vibe. It’s also a great place to bring kids where they have a really creative play area for children with live music and activities for all of the little bodhisattvas.

This years musical lineup is amazing and features the likes of Damian Marley, George Clinton with Funkadelic, Paula Cole, Angelique Kidjo, Lila Downs, Yungchen Lamo, Cheb I Sabbah and many others. The festival starts on Friday and rages late into the early hours of Saturday morning with the Jazziz/Ambiotica Lounge and goes all the way through Sunday.

If you have the chance to get to sunny Santa Rosa for those three days, you won’t be disappointed.
