Yoga in the Olympics?
The Indian Olympic Association is hoping to see an event happen in New Delhi that would involve adding yoga to the competitive sports roster. Looking towards the 2020 Summer Olympics, India would like to see their spirit-sport enter the athletic arena. Tae Kwon Do and Judo have already seen their day in the world of competition so why not yoga? Many schools in India teach yoga as part of the regular curriculum so finding capable participants would be easy. In fact, they’d have to turn away many proficient young yogis. Some yogi traditionalists are frowning upon this, though, saying that the ancient spiritual practice should not be turned into a sport. Read about it at wsj.com.

Yogis Who Blow Smoke
Should yoga practitioners who smoke be allowed to expose fellow students to their habit right outside a yoga studio? Well, it depends who you ask. This blogger felt offended, likening the incident of seeing a fellow classmate smoking outside a studio to that of an alcoholic downing a beer right before an AA meeting. But a responder to the blog puts a different spin on it, claiming that being open about an addiction is a step in the right direction. Another person says that it’s a good test of compassion for the one struggling with the addiction. The fact is, yoga has been known to help with addictions, but should the addictee expose other yogis to his or her habit? What do you think? Give us your comments below.
