Relationship Web Highlights: Deleted Romantic Scene from Fantasia, Upgrading Your Sheets, Who Created Soul Mates?
Romantic Video
Here’s a clip you don’t see every day -– a little bit of gentle G-rated fantasy for your eyes from the 1940s. It’s from Disney’s orchestral-inspired animated epic film, Fantasia, and it’s a calm, moody piece that was actually cut from the experimental film’s first release (due to time constraints). I am sharing it because it’s something of a soul mate story set to Claude Debussy’s lush classic, Claire de Lune. Also because it’s just beautiful. So…sit back, relax and get ready to enjoy a subtle side of Disney you probably weren’t expecting.
Makeover for Your Bed
Of course you wouldn’t dream of neglecting your relationship. So why are you neglecting space you spend so much time in together? With the transition of seasons, it’s a great time to change and upgrade your bed’s dressings to more comfortable duds for the arrival of warmer temperatures. As with other material goods, you want to try to get the best for your money, but more importantly, you want to leave less of a footprint on the planet with the choices you make. Purchasing materials that are durable and that will stand up to repeated wear will result in more efficient use of resources and less consumption.
The most durable duds for your bed, as well as the most luxurious, are linen sheets. Although these do not come cheaply, other fabrics don’t come close to linen’s natural strength, luster and durability, not to mention that it’s highly absorbent and lint free. And how about this: According to research, subjects fell asleep more quickly, slept more deeply and possessed a better mood when waking up after slumbering on linen (University of Milan). Heirloom quality linen can be found in muted shades at www.cuddledown.com.
If you’ve never slept on organic sheets, all I can say is, my bed never felt more comfortable! There’s something about organic cotton makes my skin feel good — probably it’s the lack of chemicals. I suffer from environmental sensitivities and I notice the difference quite dramatically between highly manufactured bedding and organically grown and treated bedding. If you can purchase organic items, it is even better for Earth’s health (as well as your own). Affordable organic bedding separates complete with twill tape details can be had from www.garnethill.com. Their Terra Comfort Organic Percale bedding items are gently tinted in a blue or natural wash of color with dyes that are of course eco-friendly and environmentally low in impact, and produced in a facility that uses windmill power.
Just as a makeover can make you feel good, a bedding makeover can lend a fresh newness to your bedroom. Tip: Always launder any new bedding prior to first use in order to guarantee any debris from production or storage is washed away prior to coming in contact with you and your loved one. Wishing you the sweetest dreams!
From the Blogs: The Gods Made Us Soul Mates
On Marloff’s Blog, a thoughtful author who hails from Finland posts his musings on the subject of soul mates. He tells us that the Greek’s believed the gods caused us humans to split resulting in two separate souls each. We became fractured over the fears the gods had of our power. I wonder, though –- Has this really made humanity less powerful? Read the whole thing at marloff.wordpress.com.
