Yoga & Body Web Highlights: Youth Yoga Movement, Why Do Yoga At Home, Meditations on Spring
Are You Centered?
“A meditation inspired revolution for authenticity seekers.” That is the heading for a website called GetSelfCentered. No, it’s not a treatise on how to have the ego of a Hollywood celeb but rather a comprehensive site that promotes gatherings, events, trainings, and tools to help the younger generation connect with others on a whole new level through fun meditations and events. Its founder, Max Simon, is the self-proclaimed Chief Enlightenment Office who engages participants in such activities as breath awareness, music, and even chocolate meditations. He promises to shake things up, spread some fun, and most importantly, help young people to live more authentic and passionate lives. Check out GetSelfCentered.com and be sure to look at Simon’s intro video.
There’s No Place Like Home
Next time you’re creating a litany of reasons why you can’t make your yoga class (it’s raining, my kids are alone, I don’t have the money, etc.), find solace in a home practice. Brook Hewes, of the New West newspaper in the Rocky Mountains, gives a bunch of great reasons to lay your mat down at home. While a class environment has great appeal – personalized attention, camaraderie, the teacher may challenge you – Hewes comes up with just as many reasons to do it alone. So, dust off the DVD, find your spot, and get your inspiration at www.newwest.net.
Spring Into Yoga
What kinds of images does the arrival of Spring conjure up for you? A blogger at True Life Yoga shares some enlightenment about the new season and what it can mean for you as a spiritual being. She shares what she’s recently learned about the virtues of vegetarianism and the blessings of meditation. Be sure to watch the video that helped enlighten her (appearing on this page). It is called, “The True Purpose of Asana,” by Dharma Mittra, an inspiring yoga teacher and philosopher from the Dharma Mittra Yoga New York Center. There’s also a link to Dharma Mittra’s site on this blog and it is definitely worth seeing as powerful words are enjoyed against a beautiful musical backdrop. See it all at www.trueyogainc.com.
