Relationship Web Highlights:
Soul Mates by the Dozen, Responsibility=Ability to Respond, Spiritual Travel for Couples

Mar 20th, 2008

I am finding that there’s a never-ending variety of views on the topic of soul mates. How many can a person have? Are there soul partners as well as soul mates? What are your views? I’d love to hear them. Just add a comment to this post to share your views with the rest of us.

From the Blogs

On the blog Spiritual Journey with Mika, Mika says that we do not have one possible soul mate but rather, a handful or more. She claims one major source of problems in a relationship can be the simple fact that we have not actually severed connection with previous soul mates and that it is necessary to have closure on them. If closure was not accomplished, the current relationship will lack clarity because of it. She also offers up two more things to keep in mind in order to have a committed relationship without attachment (attachment equals the cause of suffering), beginning with Giving Respect for the Other Person’s Spiritual Path. You can check out the rest of her post, “Human Attachment” at loveandcompassion.com.

Relationship balancing can teach us the true meaning of responsibility, according to Dr. Brenda Shoshanna. She defines responsibility as the ability to not react, but rather to respond and says it’s a skill that needs to be learned and cultivated. In Dr. Shoshanna’s post, “How to Balance and Restore Your Relationship,” she shares exercises to help you acquire the skill of responding instead of reacting. One of the keys to a strong union is to give your loved one the benefit of the doubt. Too often, many of us reserve that for only strangers and acquaintances rather than those who are closest to us! Admit it –- we have all been there! Learn to allow yourself to see the best in the other person and try not to find only faults in them and –- or in yourself for that matter! We can only treat others as well as the way we treat ourselves. Therefore, seek to be your own best friend as well as your partner’s. Wouldn’t you rather bring out the best in them and yourself? By choosing the way you perceive, you take responsibility for that situation. For more, go to Talk About Marriage.com.

Powerful, Romantic, Spiritual Travel

Are you and your loved one looking for ideas for your next trip? I discovered a site that covers Places of Peace and Power throughout the globe, which range from near to far to where you sit right now. Award winning photographer and anthropologist Martin Gray spent the last twenty years identifying these sacred spaces. His passion is obvious, and he created a comprehensive Web site that can be enjoyed even if the two of you are just armchair travelers! He provides lists of sites, pictures and descriptions with brief histories, as well as recommended reading material for further explorations. Bryce Canyon is the photo shown above, one of my favorite sacred spots. I encourage you to check this exciting Web site at Sacred Sites: Places of Peace and Power.

One of the sacred places that most profoundly touched Martin Gray was the cathedral in the town of Avila in Spain. Before modern times, medieval pilgrims journeyed to this church within the walled town (which was sacred to an ancient Iron Age culture long before becoming a remnant of medieval times). The mystic St. Theresa had frequent visions at the church and lived near it in the 1500s. Several times throughout Gray’s four day visit, he was overcome with ecstatic feelings of spiritual love while inside the cathedral and was overwhelmed with intense joy while standing upon heavily charged energy points he located there. Tourists thought he was acting strangely, but the elder priests there seemed to totally get what Gray was feeling as he sobbed softly to himself.

Martin Gray has also has a book out, called Sacred Earth, as well as photographic prints of sacred places. These make great gifts for your loved one. For more information, go to www.sacredsites.com.
